We, Khandelwal Glass Works, are one of the oldest companies in the glass industry in India. Established in 1932 at Sasni (Hathras) U.P. India, we started the manufacturing of Codd Bottles since 1981 and started capturing the market thenceforth. We are the only manufacturer of empty Codd Bottles in India, which are marketed under the brand name of VICTORY and DECO.

About the Codd Bottle

Hiram Codd of Camberwell, a British soft swig maker based in south east London, designed, developed and patented the Codd Bottle for carbonated drinks in the year 1872. Also termed as the Codd-neck bottle, it encloses a marble and a rubber washer/gasket in the neck. The bottle is filled upside down, and pressure of the gas in the bottle forces the marble against the washer, sealing in the carbonation. Pinched into a special shape, it has a chamber that prevents the marble from blocking the neck as the drink is poured.

The Codd Bottle is widely used to bottle carbonated drinks like Soda Water/Aerated Water. The Codd Bottle is also known as Banta, kancha bottle, goli bottle, Goti Bottle, and soda bottle in different parts of the country.

What Is Soda Water/Aerated Water?

Soda Water/Aerated Water is plain water into which carbon dioxide gas has been dissolved. It is the major and defining component used in most soft drinks. Soda water is generally of two kinds, viz. Plain Soda Water (Aerated Soda Water) and Flavored Soda Water (Aerated Beverages). In Plain Soda Water, Carbonic Acid Gas (Co2) & Sodium-by-carbonate solution under pressure is mixed with pure water. Flavored Soda Water contains flavors of lemon, ginger (Masala Soda), milk rose, mango, cola, oragne, pineapple, etc. in syrup base and this preparation is also made using carbonic acid gas (Co2) under pressure. 

Profits from Soda Water/Aerated Water Business

In the example mentioned above about the complete process of the preparation of lemon flavored soda water, let us have a look at the profits.

The cost price for the preparation of 30 crates amounts to Rs. 540 (Sugar 18 kg.-270 + Gas-Rs. 45 + Flavours-Rs. 85 + Estimated Labour-Rs. 50 + Other Exp.-Rs. 50 + LPG Gas-Rs. 40).

The selling price is Rs. 30/-per crate, which amounts to Rs. 900/- bringing profit of Rs. 300/-. At least 240 crates can be filled per day in eight hours, which means Rs. 2880/- per day or 86400/- per month. In general, around 300 crates can be sold in one's nearby markets only. For nine months, excluding the winter season, one can make huge profits and grow up with rapid speed.
